The Clicquot cellar was founded by Philippe Clicquot Muiron in 1772 but it was his widow, Nicole Barbe Ponsardin who took this champagne to luxury heaven, supplying the European Royal houses during the Napoleonic wars and making it as far as St. Petersburg. To deter imitators, the corks were printed an anchor and the letters VCP, standing for Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin (Veuve being French for widow). This champagne is still nowadays poured in lots of Royal receptions, parties, etc. thanks to a management that has kept its legacy intact through a quality and elegant product.

Made with Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes, the wine is a yellow colour, with fine elegant bubbles, very intense aroma, with hints of tropical fruits and apple, and an elegant, round flavour.

The sparkle is delicate and persistant in the mouth without being aggressive.
